Welcome to the Church and Community Program Food Pantry
and Second Chance Thrift Shop
You can donate right now!
We need your help to keep feeding, clothing and supporting our community members, young and old. Need is up--and so are costs--so please help us keep going in tough times.
Fall is Giving Tree season at CCP!
If this is the end of summer in Canton and surrounding areas, it must be time to start gearing up for Giving Tree, our holiday program that distributes clothing, gift and food vouchers, as well as a new pair of PJs and a knitted hat, to children in our community whose families need help providing for themselves and their kids.
You can help us make a child's holiday brighter by joining our push to support our neighbors in need and clicking the donate button above. Choose "Giving Tree" as your recipient on the drop-down list.
When you do that, you're also supporting our efforts to bring some holiday cheer to older people who have no family to brighten their holiday with a bag of small gifts and a cheery holiday message. So, with one donation, you can help both children and seniors.
Giving Tree serves three school districts, Canton Central, Edwards-Knox, and Herman-DeKalb. Applications are now available from guidance counselors at those three schools and at the Thrift Shop at the CCP building at 30 Court Street in Canton—and right here on our Giving Tree Page! This year's deadline for applications is October 31 (Halloween), so people need to get started applying right away.
Starting in November, you’ll find our Giving Trees and donation envelopes in most of the downtown businesses. Please use an envelope or give online to give children and seniors a holiday treat.
Your financial help is essential. Without your help, we can’t buy the vouchers for food, clothing and toys for our community children. You can send us cash or a check by mailing it to Church & Community Program Giving Tree, 30 Court Street, PO Box 55, Canton, NY 13617, or by dropping it off in person.
Or save yourself a check, a stamp and some effort by clicking on our PayPal link above, selecting "Giving Tree" from the drop-down list, and making an online donation. Any way you do it, we thank you in advance, as do the neighbors we serve in your name.

What's happening here at 30 Court Street?
2024 has brought the promise of hope and new growth to all of us at the Church & Community Program--because this year, we're celebrating a special event: this is our 50th birthday year!
In 1974, the pastors of a group of Canton churches decided to form what became the Church & Community Program. 50 years later, here we still are, with the same mission and the same determination to fulfill it.
Stop in and wish us Happy Birthday at our big celebration on Saturday, September 14, from 11-4! We have rides, games food, and music for everyone in our community.
Just before Labor Day, our Back to School Program distributed new backpacks, required school supplies, a brand new pair of good quality sneakers, and even a free haircut, courtesy of Midtown Hair, to 240 children in 116 qualifying families, again many more than last year.
We've just replaced the the shorter sleeves and lighter fabrics of summer with warm winter coats and sweaters in our Second Chance Thrift Shop. Come by and get some great bargains to expand your fall wardrobe.
As we all know, food prices are high and many government programs have severely cut their assistance to people who need it. Homelessness is on the rise in our home towns.
We need your help more than ever as the colder weather settles in. Please give as generously as you can to share food with community members in need and our homeless population. You can make a donation at our office here at 30 Court Street in Canton. We welcome cash, checks or online donations using the donate button just above. Your help keeps us going, and without it we wouldn't be here.
If you'd like to help, you can give your time in any of our regular programs or join our team of volunteers by calling 315-386-3534 or sending an email to our director, Connie Jenkins at director@ccpcanton.org. And our food pantry is always in need of non-perishable food and (in the summer) anything you can share from your garden. Our thrift shop, which helps pay the rent, needs lightly-used or new clothing, preferably in season, shoes, hats, purses and jewelry.
Your financial help is always welcome. Any way you do it, we thank you in advance, as do the neighbors we serve in your name.
Our Mission at the Church & Community Program
Since 1974, we've provided a way for neighbors to help neighbors in the Northern New York towns of Canton, Hermon, Clare, DeKalb, Lisbon and Russell, and the villages of Rensselaer Falls, Richville and Heuvelton.
The mission of the Church and Community Program is to provide food, clothing and other essentials to those in need, to offer referrals for additional assistance, and to do so with respect for those we serve.
We're located at 30 Court Street in Canton, NY. We welcome you to drop by if you need assistance, want to shop in our Second Chance Thrift Shop, or would simply like to get involved in helping people in your community.
