How You Can Help
Contribute Food or Clothing or Financial Support
As a local non-profit with no government support, we rely on you and other members of our community for monetary support.
You can drop off a check at our office at 30 Court or send it to our mailing address: Church & Community Program, PO Box 55, Canton, NY 13617
Or you can simply click the button at the top of this page and make your donation on line through PayPal.
Beyond the help we receive from the Central NY Food Bank, we also rely on you for contributions of non-perishable food for the pantry and clean, lightly used clothing to sell in the thrift shop. You can drop off either food or clothing M-F between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm at the CCP Office at 30 Court Street in Canton.
Contribute Your Time
Without the commitment of our volunteers we would not be able to keep our programs running. We are always looking for regular and alternate volunteers to keep our Second Chance Thrift Shop open and thriving. It's open 30 hours a week, and that takes a lot of volunteers to keep it going, sorting and pricing donated clothing, helping customers find just the right thing, and keeping the shop attractive and the displays interesting.
If you'd prefer to help in the Food Pantry, we're always in need of people who will volunteer for all kinds of tasks, from assisting with food deliveries, checking in customers, and distributing food to stocking shelves, vacuuming, defrosting freezers, cleaning refrigerators, and even breaking down boxes for recycling. If you have computer skills, like using Excel, you're just what we need to help keep our pantry records updated and accessible.
All our volunteers decide on a schedule for their volunteer hours, generally choosing to work weekly, monthly or as an on-call substitute for regular workers. Working together to help strengthen our community provides a welcome break from your normal schedule and gives you a chance to meet new people while doing something fun and productive.
To contribute your time to the Church & Community Program, you can contact Connie Jenkins, our director, by email at director@ccpcanton.org or call her at 315-386-3435.
How Businesses and Organizations Can Contribute
Many businesses and organizations currently provide essential financial support for the Food Pantry and Second Chance Thrift Shop by making regular cash donations to keep us in business here on Court Street.
Beyond contributing directly, we also encourage you to hold fundraisers in support of the Church & Community Program. If you're a business, you might partner with us to hold a fundraiser with your customers. If you're a performing group, you might consider a benefit performance. And if you're a service organization, we'd love to partner with you on a fundraiser or benefit to help provide for our clients.
For any kind of benefit or fundraiser, we promise to provide publicity and whatever support you need to make your event a success.
Please contact Connie Jenkins, Director, to start the process at 315-386-3534 or at director@ccpcanton.org.
